Disabled Access and Procedures

Mobility Disabilities

The Shores is an old Victorian building and to gain access you need to ascend 10 steps with hand rails on both sides.  This may be a problem for guests with limited mobility.  The dining room is located in the basement of the building but for guests with limited mobility we can offer the facility of using the bar/lounge on the ground floor to eat breakfast or evening meal.

We offer three ground floor rooms one of which is suitable for wheelchair access.  This room does have a separate shower and toilet in and we can offer the use of a stool for the shower room should a guest have difficulty standing for a period of time.  We will note any disability on registration and in the case of an emergency a fire warden will be sent immediately to the guest to assist with evacuation to safety.

We have contacts with hire companies who can provide rental on scooters and wheelchairs at very reasonable prices

Visual impairment

We do not have any menus written in Braille but we can offer menus in large print.  We have no signage for the visually impaired but we can note the disability on registration and can offer the assistance of a member of staff to accommodate the guest to the dining room and around the hotel and to read the notices or menus. We will note the disability on registration and in the case of an emergency a fire warden will be sent immediately to the guest to assist with evacuation to safety.

Hearing Impairment

We do not have any knowledge of sign language but we do have a conveniently placed pad and pen in the bar/lounge so the guests can communicate with us.  We will note the disability on registration and in the case of an emergency a fire warden will be sent immediately to the guest to assist with evacuation to safety.
